Dear colleagues and friends,
I am writing to all of you in this unprecedented time of uncertainty in the grip of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our priority is the safety and well-being of our delegates therefore, we are monitoring the COVID-19 situation and allied government directives very closely. But at present, the Symposium is still going ahead as planned.
We are cognisant that this status may change. Any announcements on event cancellation or changes will be posted on our website - please check for updates.
Please stay well,
Dear fellow colleagues and friends,
Welcome to the XXIII International Symposium on High-Power Laser Systems and Applications 2020 (HPLS&A 2020) to be held in Prague, Czech Republic, on 12-16 October 2020.
It is our great honor and pleasure to organize this important scientific event again in the very heart of Europe. Prague, “The City of a Hundred Spires”, is well known to people from all over the world and ranks among the most beautiful historical cities in Europe. Please, join HPLS&A 2020 and let the Bohemian allure and fairytale features of Prague inspire you, just as it inspired many significant artists and scientists in the past…
Starting from 1976, for more than forty years GCL&HPL (since 2012 renamed to HPLS&A) has always provided an excellent opportunity for researchers, engineers and end-users of high power lasers to exchange ideas, review the state-of-the-art and foresee emerging trends in the field.
List of previous GCL&HPL and HPLS&A symposia:
1976 - Cologne (Germany)
1978 - Brussels (Belgium)

To continue in this tradition, HPLS&A 2020 aims to bring together presentations on fundamental as well as engineering aspects of innovative laser technologies along with their novel scientific and hi-tech industrial applications. As usual, it will be an open forum for the discussion of technological bottlenecks, enabling concepts, original ideas, and networking.
HPLS&A 2020 will focus on the following topics:
Advanced gas lasers including DPAL
Ultra-high intensity lasers
High-power solid-state lasers
Fiber lasers and beam combining
Chemical and excimer lasers
Raman and Brillouin lasers
Laser applications/macro and micro processing including 3D printing in metals
Space applications, LIDAR
Novel concepts and modelling
Laser beam control
Keynote and Invited lectures will highlight the most recent advances and research trends in high power lasers development and applications. We wish you to enjoy the rich scientific program composed of Oral talks, Posters and brainstorming discussions with your colleagues.
Welcome to the HPLS&A 2020, and have a great time in Prague!
